R2-D2 Blender Tutorial

Blender Tutorial – R2-D2

Modelling, Sci Fi

This tutorial series will show you how I created R2-D2 from Star Wars using Blender. The modelling process covers 18 tutorials, with a final tutorial showing how to create the textures and setup the scene using Cycles Render Engine.

One Ring with volumetrics in blender 3D

Blender Tutorial – Lord Of The Rings – One Ring

Modelling, Texturing

Here’s my Render of the “One Ring” from Lord Of The Rings.

This scene was created and rendered completely in Blender 3D, no photoshop or post work done. Cycles rendering and some basic texturing was used to achieve the finished effect. The first render doesn’t include any specialist lighting effects. The second has a volume scatter node added in the world settings.

Blender – Lemon Slice

Modelling, Texturing

In this tutorial I cover how to create a slice of lemon that can be placed on to your cocktail glass, or any other scene where you might want a slice of lemon to be visible.

Below are some screen shots of the node editor window so that you can easily follow along with how these textures were created.

Here’s the node setup for the lemon skin :-

Pepsi Perfect Bottle

Pepsi Perfect – Back To The Future

Modelling, Texturing

Here’s my render of the Pepsi Perfect Bottle from the move “Back To The Future”. Served in the Cafe 80’s when Marty is in the future this uniquely shaped Pepsi Bottle known as Pepsi Perfect has achieved almost cult status.

Checkout my tutorial series on Skillshare to learn how to create this in Blender.

Luke Skywalker Lightsaber

Modelling, Sci Fi

This tutorial is a good one for beginners when it comes to modelling, but it also covers some more advanced Node Editing to create the light and texture effects, as well as composite editor for post processing.

This is a 2 part tutorial, the first part covers the modelling process of the lightsaber, the second part will cover the lighting of the scene, texture creating using cycles rendering engine, and then the setup for the final render.

lightsaber

The modelling process is very straight forward, we will start with a simple cylinder primitive and extrude it along the profile of our reference image. Once this is done, there’s some smoothing to be done and fixing of the sharp edges on the smooth surface. Finally there’s some small modelling details that we will do to finish off the lightsaber.

Hi Guys

I recently opened a Skillshare account where I am uploading all my tutorials and Blender classes to. There’s short beginners tips as well as complete video tutorial series for modelling and lighting and rendering a scene.

You can sign up for Skillshare completely free and access all my online classes there using this linkĀ http://skl.sh/1OCcC6u

Thanks for the support and I hope you enjoy learning Blender as much as I have!

Blender Beer Glass

Uncategorized

In this series of mini tutorials I will demonstrate some basic modelling techniques, but primarily we will be studying how to use the cycles render engine in Blender to create realistic looking finished renders. Many times people concentrate so much on the modelling they fail to learn basic rendering skills. Often many hours spent modelling can be wasted by poor rendering and texturing, and sometimes hours spent modelling are wasted when a good texture would have achieved the same goal.

This tutorial series was inspired by Blender Guru’s beer glass tutorials, so please enjoy these, I had fun making them!

In the first tutorial we will do the basic glass modelling. We will use a reference image for your favourite shaped beer glass and then from a cylinder object extrude out the shape, apply smoothing, thicken the walls to give the glass some thickness, setup a basic lighting for the scene and apply the glass texture using cycles rendering engine.
